As part of the Fire Prevention Bureau, the Environmental Management Center (EMC) will conduct the inspections that focus on hazardous materials and hazardous waste management. Part of our duties include the permitting and enforcement of regulations pertaining to Aboveground and Underground Storage Tanks, generation of hazardous waste, and storage and use of hazardous materials. |

The Environmental Management Center, located at 780 Flower St. The office is open from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday and on alternate Fridays. Inspectors are available by phone from 7:00 - 8:00 am and 4:00 - 5:00 pm each day that the City is open to schedule inspections. Please note that you must speak directly with an inspector to make an appointment. The inspectors will attempt to accommodate your schedule, but you should expect to allow 48 hours lead time for your request. |

As the CUPA for the City of Glendale, we also have the responsibility to administer and enforce all six Program Elements of the Unified Program, along with the Industrial Waste Program, as well as, the Uniform Fire Code. |

Part of our service to the community, the EMC will collect Household Hazardous Waste from the citizens of Glendale (also Burbank and La Canada). Household Hazardous Waste can be dropped off at the EMC during the designated collection days. |

The EMC also manages the Used Motor Oil Free Pick Up Program which is funded by a Block Grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board. This door-to-door service for Glendale residents collected 6,300 gallons of oil and 1,600 oil filters last year. |
